Minecraft: Essential Mods To Improve Your Gameplay Experience

Story Highlight
  • Minecraft has one of gaming’s biggest modding communities.
  • Whether it be Optifine or Sodium, the different options can improve the game in many ways.
  • Multiple different tools can also be combined to create the most optimized experience.

Minecraft is gaming’s biggest IP in terms of sheer sales alone, boasting popularity across multiple console generations and PC. As a sandbox title with endless possibilities, it appeals to a wide range of players and becomes even more impressive when modes are taken into account.

Modding needs no introduction. This aspect of PC gaming can completely transform games, and the likes of Skyrim showcase modding’s potential the best. The same is true of Minecraft, and you’re missing out if you haven’t tried at least a few mods.

Because Minecraft is so popular, we’ve put together a list of the essential mods one should try out. This is far from everything the modding scene has to offer, but it should give players a solid base to start out with.

Why it matters: Mods have added completely new cities and gameplay mechanics to various titles in the past. Because the possibilities are practically endless, such tools breathe new life into existing games.

Performance Improvements

Minecraft
The Right Tools Can Make Your Low-End PC A Dedicated Minecraft Machine

As mentioned above, Minecraft has a slew of mods already available. With access to the right Minecraft key, the possibilities are practically endless since gameplay can be tuned to the player’s liking.

Because Minecraft is so popular, the game is played on a variety of consoles, PCs, and laptops. Some may not be good enough to handle the game, but this is where Sodium saves the day.

Paired with Lithium, Sodium streamlines game physics and mob AI. This, in addition to the different rendering techniques, leads to a 150% frame rate boost. Elsewhere, FerriteCore improves memory management for those with limited memory.

To improve rendering when using multiple mods, ImmediatelyFast uplifts rendering capabilities. Moreover, the Concurrent Chunk Management Engine helps reduce load times. All of these mods can be used together to combine the benefits of small but meaningful changes, resulting in a major improvement to the end-user experience.

Graphical Enhancements

PC gamers love their visuals, and this is precisely why a large chunk of the modding community focuses on enhancing various visual elements.

In Minecraft, mods can completely change the look of the game without impacting the original blocky art direction. Optifine is the quintessential visual mod in this case, adding dynamic lighting and clear water to the game.

A shader pack like SEUS also works well with Optifine, leading to realistic water flow and atmospheric lighting changes. For even better lighting, Super Dolby Vanilla adds stunning visual effects without taking up too many resources.

Moreover, a mod like Dramatic Skys brings improvements with HD clouds and biome-specific lighting. If this isn’t enough, Faithful upgrades the blocky textures to a 32×32 resolution.

As said earlier, the possibilities are truly endless, and you can spend days customizing the experience to your personal taste.

Conclusion

Minecraft remains one of gaming’s most-played titles to date. It would not be far-fetched to say that the modding community plays a major role in the game’s sustained popularity, keeping players coming back for new experiences.

As long as you enjoy the vanilla experience, exploring the many mods created by the community will certainly be worth your time. The only downside is that modding is currently limited to PC.

AI Just Took A Huge Leap, And I’m Hooked

Story Highlights
  • Agentic AI is revolutionizing digital assistants by autonomously handling tasks, reducing the need for human input.
  • Google’s Deep Research, Agentic AI, refines search results by gathering precise information and efficiently organizing content structure.
  • AI is evolving beyond answering questions; it now integrates into workflows and improves productivity across various industries.

Artificial intelligence has been making waves for years, especially with the arrival of GPT-4o. However, the major development in Artificial intelligence now is Agentic AI, which is revolutionizing the industry. This term refers to artificial intelligence systems capable of performing tasks autonomously and acting as agents on our behalf.

These advancements are changing the way we interact with technology entirely. Agentic AI can handle tasks without constant human guidance, making it a groundbreaking innovation that has completely captivated me.

Revolutionizing Digital Assistance

The rise of Agentic AI has transformed how we think about digital assistants. Instead of just answering questions, AI can now complete tasks, streamlining daily life. AI tools like OpenAI’s Custom GPTs, Microsoft’s Copilot Actions, and Google’s Gems are paving the way for a future where AI manages entire digital workflows.

Tech giants like MediaTek are developing specialized chips for ARM-based laptops to handle these AI-driven tasks efficiently. In contrast to the hardware advances, true Agentic AI is still in its early stages. However, one of the most significant steps in this direction is Google’s Deep Research, a part of the Gemini AI family.

NVIDIA’s AI NPC Model – AI Also Revolutionizes Gaming Industry

We all know how frustrating Google searches can be these days: irrelevant results, changing algorithms, and inconsistent findings. You might get one result today and a completely different one tomorrow. For many, the experience has only worsened over time.

With Deep Research, this experience is completely transformed. Instead of sifting through thousands of irrelevant results, AI gathers information from your chosen sources, ensuring precise and reliable search outcomes.

Professionals across various fields are recognizing its value. Deep Research is beneficial for lawyers, journalists, and researchers. It removes redundant information, organizes results into structured sections, and even includes citations, ensuring the credibility of sources.

Artificial Intelligence That Understands Your Needs

Researchers typically open dozens of tabs while searching for relevant sources, then manually copy and paste information, a messy and time-consuming process. Deep Research simplifies this by delivering well-organized reports that eliminate unnecessary hassle.

Search engines frequently miss the mark, forcing users to rephrase queries multiple times in search of relevant information, which can lead to exhaustion and frustration. I’ve personally had to tweak my searches repeatedly, only to end up with unsatisfactory results.

Now, Deep Research solves this by allowing natural language searches. I can describe what I need in everyday language and receive precise results. It saves time by eliminating the need to filter through bad sources or distracting ads while structuring quality information in an organized format.

So, worrying about unreliable search results, disorganized data, or complicated queries is unnecessary. Another best part? It’s built into Google’s ecosystem, seamlessly integrating with tools like Docs, Gmail, and Sheets.

The Future Of AI Research Tools

As Artificial intelligence technology advances, we can expect even more powerful tools shortly. Deep Research is just the beginning. Companies like OpenAI and Perplexity are also working on similar solutions, but Google holds a competitive edge due to its deep integration with the services we already use.

A Google One AI Premium under $20 monthly subscription offers access to Gemini Advanced, 2TB of cloud storage, and Gemini AI integrated across various Google services like Gmail, Docs, and more. It is a far better deal than competitors like ChatGPT Plus or Perplexity Pro, which charge similar prices for AI services alone.

Google Deep Research Integration With Other Google Apps

However, Open AI Deep Research is better for in-depth, real-time analysis but costs too much, $200/month. In contrast, Google Gemini Deep Research is more affordable, delivers well-structured reports, and generally provides faster responses than OpenAI.

Recent Humanity’s Last Exam benchmark results highlight AI performance in deep research tasks. OpenAI’s model scored 26%, outperforming Perplexity’s 21.1%, though the gap is narrowing.

However, specific performance metrics for Google’s Gemini AI on the HLE benchmark are not publicly available. However, surpassing other models, it scored 90.04% on other tests, such as the Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU) test.

If your work involves research of any kind, Google Deep Research is worth trying. Its operation within Google’s ecosystem makes it even more convenient. We are entering an era where Artificial intelligence doesn’t just assist us; it works for us. And in my opinion, that’s something to be truly excited about.

The Current Video Game Generation Is The Weakest We’ve Seen

Story Highlight
  • Despite its promise, the current console generation has been underwhelming, with few standout releases even as it approaches its midpoint.
  • New IPs that defined past generations are now scarce, replaced by forgettable titles and a focus on live-service games.
  • None of the new IPs have made their mark and will likely be forgotten in the years ahead.

None of us would’ve ever expected the current video game generation to be the way it is right now since the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles were revealed.

While the pandemic was to blame for the console’s earlier bland years, the generation is almost midway through, and none of the gaming releases have blown me away.

It just isn’t my opinion but a thought shared by many that the current video game generation is the weakest we’ve ever seen.

Why it matters: With gaming becoming more mainstream and technological advancements, one would think that the industry’s state would improve. However, the artistic aspect of video game development is completely forgotten in favour of chasing trends.

A Course Of Of Disappointing Releases

Concord
The Failure OF Premium AAA Titles Like Concord Is A Warning Signal For The Industry.

It’s not that I’m being a pessimist, but I’m not seeing the gaming industry getting better. I expected so many of the recent releases to blow me away, especially because of how much studios hyped them up for years. However, every time, I was disappointed with broken promises.

This is something that I’ve repeatedly talked about in the past countless times. Whether it was Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, a continuation of the Arkham series, or Skulls and Bones, a project birthed by Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, each time, my expectations were shattered.

I liked Starfield, but it wasn’t up to par with the rest of Bethesda’s games. Studio owners should’ve listened to gamers instead of assuming what they actually needed.

There Hasn’t Been A Memorable New IP In The Past Few Years

Forspoken
Forspoken Was One Of The Most Disappointing PS5 Releases.

Many people undermine the important fact that the PS4/Xbox One Era had some really great new IPs. The same cannot be said for this generation, though.

For the PS4, we had Days Gone, Horizon, Bloodborne, and more. These were all new IPs in addition to the veteran ones.

On the other hand, PS5 saw releases like Forspoken and Concord, which are games I’d like to forget about. The case would’ve been different if Sony hadn’t pushed the live-service agenda, but alas.

Even for Xbox, the argument holds valid; titles like Starfield, a project 7 years into its making, failed to turn heads.

Exclusives aside, some of the great new titles I can think of are Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077. Long gone are the days when developers released new IPs like Mass Effect, God of War, and Witcher games.

They still get new titles to this date, but then again, the impact they had will never be matched by any new release. I’m not even overlooking great titles like Sekiro, Outerworlds, or Black Myth Wukong, but it’s just not the same anymore.

The industry has expanded so much, with development costing hundreds of millions of dollars, that publishers avoid taking creative risks.

Still, smaller studios with a passion for the industry continue to make an impact as much as they can with their games. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a testimony to that. While it may not fare against the likes of titles like God of War, something is better than nothing.

RX 9070 XT Performs Similar To RTX 5070 Ti At 4k With Ray Tracing, AND Costs $150 Less

Story Highlight
  • RX 9070 XT is significantly cheaper ($599) than the RTX 5070 Ti ($749 MSRP).
  • AMD claims the RX 9070 XT performs within 2% of the RTX 5070 Ti in 4K gaming, making them practically equivalent in performance.
  • RX 9070 XT presents a strong competitive alternative to the RTX 5070 Ti, assuming AMD can maintain its pricing and availability.

Following the announcement of the Radeon RX 9070 Series, nothing better than focusing on the performance of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT vs NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. And despite the leaks, and even the premature announcement of these GPUs in China, AMD kept an ace up its sleeve. Yes, directly attacking NVIDIA and its GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, and luckily for the consumer… we have solid competition.

And so it is, and in the slides already leaked or announced in China, AMD compared the performance of its Radeon RX 9070 XT with the GeForce RTX 3090 as NVIDIA’s only GPU. But during the official presentation for the West, the company then allowed itself to throw a poisoned dart at NVIDIA. It compared its graphics card head-to-head with what is so far the cheapest GeForce RTX 50 it has launched, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.

RX 9070 XT Steals The Spotlight

To be fair, AMD has had a pretty easy time competing with this card. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti has been a clear target of various criticisms since its launch. Starting with the removal of PhysX support, causing the GPU to drag in terms of performance in games with this technology.

The failure that affects that you can get a GPU with 8 fewer ROPs or, worse still, very limited availability. Which has led to extremely inflated prices that directly make it a very bad buy. So NVIDIA has made things very easy for it.

For quick context, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT has been announced at an official, recommended price of $599 plus tax. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, meanwhile, has been officially announced at an MSRP of $749 plus tax. We’re already talking about a $150 price difference. Now, NVIDIA’s MSRP isn’t holding up.

And when it comes down to it, if you find a unit to buy, they do so for a price that exceeds the $1,000 barrier.  If we now tell you that both graphics cards perform practically the same, there is a clear winner. But of course, as long as AMD graphics cards are sold at the recommended price, or slightly higher, the same thing does not happen as with NVIDIA. So it will be something important to see next week.

RX 9070 XT Vs. RTX 5070 Ti Performance Comparison

According to the tests carried out by AMD, its Radeon RX 9070 XT is 2% slower than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. A performance margin that is even within the margins of error. Hence, we say that they practically perform the same.

This performance difference has been taken into account by comparing more than 30 games at 4K resolution. Even AMD has played fair by including games with Ray Tracing technology, which until the launch of the RDNA 4 architecture, was like Kryptonite for Superman.

And although in most tests with Ray Tracing it is still inferior, now at least the differences are smaller. So it is a great advance for those who want this technology. However, the new AMD FSR 4 with Machine Learning will help them compensate by increasing performance.

Now, putting the performance and price difference into context, it’s pretty clear that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is a direct killer of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Now let’s hope that the recommended price is met, that there is availability of these models, and of more expensive advanced models, but with improved cooling systems and overclocking.

Last but not least, when you take OC into account, AMD indicates that the OC models are 2% faster than the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.

This story is expected to repeat itself with the ‘non-XT’ Radeon RX 9070 and the ‘non-Ti’ NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, with these NVIDIA GPUs set to launch as early as March 5th, 2025.

AMD Boasts Performance Better Than The RX 7900 GRE With Its Latest Lineup

As per AMD, the RX 9070 is 21% faster than the 7900 GRE at 4K, putting it behind the flagship RX 7900 XTX. On the other hand, the RX 9070 XT is said to be barely slower than the RX 7900 XTX for the price of $599.

Compared to Nvidia’s offerings, the vanilla RX 9070 is said to be 26% faster than the RTX 3080. Both graphics cards also sport 16GB of memory and PCIe 5.0 support, making them more than capable of 4K gaming.

In fact, AMD’s tagline for the series is “4K gaming at 1440p pricing.” The company states that the RDNA 4 architecture offers improved ray tracing, and FSR 4 is expected to take upscaling to the next level.

AMD believes FSR 4 will offer much-improved frame rates while offering image quality that looks just as good as native rendering. While these claims have yet to be tested by the public, both graphics cards are coming out very soon.

The Radeon RX 9070 lineup launches on March 6, and AMD expects plenty of stock at release.

Following this release, the gaming giant will begin preparations for its next few RNDA 4 releases. The company has already teased the RX 9060 lineup, setting the stage for even more budget-friendly graphics cards.

Canceled Wonder Woman Game Reportedly Drew Heavy Inspiration From God of War

Story Highlight
  • The studio working on the Wonder Woman title was recently shut down.
  • While the title was in development for four years, it has also been canceled.
  • A well-known journalist has recently stated that the canceled title was very similar to God of War in terms of combat.

Wonder Woman game was first announced during the Game Awards 2021, and while the developers were quiet about the title’s development, fans were already worried about its launch.

However, earlier this month, it was also reported that the game was stuck in development hell. A week after the leak, the developers officially confirmed that the Wonder Woman game had been canceled. However, an insider claims that Wonder Woman was similar to God of War before being canceled.

Why it matters: Following the closure announcement, the game’s writer stated that the Wonder Woman game was a dream come true as the studio wanted to create the best game for the fans.

In a recent Kinda Funny Gamescast podcast, Jason Schreier discussed the game’s troubled development, as the studio was also working on another project, codenamed Legacy, which they were eventually forced to abandon.

Following that, many experienced developers had already left the studio to form Cliffhanger Games. While this was already a significant reason, an internal debate about whether to use Monolith’s proprietary engine or switch to Unreal Engine caused more trouble for the studio.

However, Jason further stated that the canceled Wonder Woman game would be like a God of War-style title as it was a more traditional action-adventure title.

they rebooted it to be more of a kind of God of War style more traditional action adventure game but by then I mean it was kind of too late.

Insider Mentions Canceled Arkham Knight Sequel Among Scrapped Warner Bros. Projects

Story Highlight
  • Warner Bros. has canceled several major projects over the past decade, including an Arkham Knight sequel focused on Damian Wayne.
  • The game was scrapped in favor of Gotham Knights in 2017, but recent reports hint at a possible revival as a Batman Beyond game.
  • Insider Jason Schreier revealed that WB Games canceled at least seven projects, highlighting the company’s mismanagement of its IPs.

With several massive IPs under its belt, Warner Bros. doesn’t always utilize its catalog well. With repeated cancellations and poor releases, the company has suffered major losses.

Insider Jason Schreier recently went through all the scrapped Warner Bros. projects in the last decade. Among them was a canceled Arkham Knight sequel that WB Games Montreal was developing.

Why it matters: For Warner Bros. to cancel a Batman game, one of their prized IPs, was a questionable move.

According to Jason Schreier, the canceled Batman game was focused on Damian Wayne and suggested a Batman Beyond game. The game was ultimately canceled in favor of Gotham Knights in 2017.

Overall, the insider mentioned a whopping 7 projects scrapped just within the past decade. They include titles like Gotham Knight 1.5, Project Legacy, Arkham Knight Sequel, WB Games Montreal’s Suicide Squad, Constantine title, and a Flash game.

Electronics Enthusiast Designed 12V-2×6 Adapter With Real-Time Amp Reading, Temperature Sensors, and Alarm

Story Highlight
  • The risk of burnt connectors on RTX 50 Series high-end graphics cards remains significant with no fix from Nvidia.
  • A Chinese electronics enthusiast has created a prototype 12V-2×6 adapter with amp reading, temperature sensors, and an alarm to address the burning issue, offering real-time monitoring and potential early warning.
  • The design is intended to be open-source, allowing users to modify, adapt, and improve it, potentially providing a valuable palliative solution for monitoring and preventing connector failures.

The problems with burnt RTX 4090, RTX 5090, and RTX 5080 are not going to go away, as there will always be users who are not informed about what is happening to them if the necessary measures are not taken in the short and long term and now the list of if-else checks if too long with many guesses in between.

The degradation is unstoppable, users are afraid of seeing their hardware burn, and that is why some are already creating their palliative measures because there is no final solution coming from Nvidia at the moment.

For this reason, a user in China with knowledge of electronics has designed the first 12V-2×6 adapter capable of detecting the load in amps of each cable, including a temperature sensor and an alarm to warn.

You have to be prepared if you haven’t already, that the problems with the graphics cards mentioned are not going to be solved anytime soon, and the only thing you can do is to use a new cable, with a PSU without too much “use”, to alleviate the symptoms, and change said cable every few years.

But this is a nightmare since at the slightest thing you will be like a neurotic thinking that your hardware can burn, or even your PC, if you want a possible palliative solution for the future, keep reading.

The First 12V-2×6 Adapter With Protection System: Amp Reading, Temperature Sensor, And Alarm

Looking at the concept, still in prototype form and not a final version, it is strange that big companies have not launched something similar, the closest thing we have seen is Thermal Grizzly Wireview Pro. Be that as it may, from China, a user shows the progress of what is simply a 12V-2×6 adapter with several peculiarities, such as real-time amp reading, temperature sensors, and an alarm.

All with the aim that the most hypochondriac users on the subject (and there are quite a few of you) can be more relaxed with their hardware.

What we see is nothing more than a small PCB to which the 16 corresponding pins are soldered with a fairly basic control circuit.

Monitoring, or updating, the software for said 12V-2×6 adapter appears to rely on a Type-C on its back, so it could be upgradeable to support new graphics cards in the future.

Will be An Open-Source Design

This is perhaps for the best because the design and software will be open source, meaning that if you are not happy with it, you can modify it yourself and adapt it to your graphics card, and even improve the design if you have the necessary knowledge.

The basis seems to be the Shunt resistors used by ASUS and other manufacturers, in this case, 0.002 ohms for each cable. What we understand, in the absence of concrete data, is that this 12V-2×6 adapter will have said amp reading, temperature sensors, and alarm through a specific software that will be installed in Windows or Linux, and from which we will be able to monitor each of the 16 cables, but this is not confirmed.

The only thing that can be seen is that the male connector will use a single delivery rail, so it will not affect the most advanced models such as the ROG Astral, since it will allow them to do their job in a kind of “double-check” between the resistors of this adapter and those of the graphics card itself with its Tweak III software.

If it ends up working as expected and is released as open source, it would be a very interesting palliative solution that will tell us when the cable or power supply has to be changed or renewed, because if we are attentive and the alarm warns us, it should avoid the burning and damage that we have already seen in dozens of cases.

What’s your take on this new design by an individual? Is it going to solve the major issue in the end? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

$600 Launch Price For RX 9070 XT Confirmed By AMD In China

Story Highlight
  • AMD has preemptively announced official pricing for the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT.
  • The GPUs are priced at 4499 RMB and 4999 RMB, respectively. These translate to $549 and $599 in the US.
  • An official worldwide reveal is also scheduled to go live in just a few hours.

The RX 9070 XT is shaping up to be one of AMD’s most interesting graphics cards in many years. Expected to challenge the RTX 4080, this Radeon offering was rumored to cost as much as $699 recently.

However, AMD has officially confirmed the prices in China, and the situation is far better than anticipated. The RX 9070 XT is now confirmed to cost $599.

Why it matters: AMD’s pricing could give it a major edge over Nvidia this generation. It seems the gaming giant is finally looking to capitalize on Nvidia’s obscene pricing strategy.

RX 9070 XT Launch Event In China

AMD announced the prices during a recent event for distributors and partners. The RX 9070 XT officially costs 4999 RMB, while the RX 9070 is set to cost 4499 RMB. Converted to USD, the two GPUs will cost $599 and $549, respectively.

These prices also include tax, so AMD has managed to offer a cheaper GPU than the RTX 5070 Ti in China. Moreover, the event states that both graphics cards will officially go on sale starting from March 6.

To nobody’s surprise, reactions to this pricing have been quite pleasant. Following recent leaks, PC gamers had begun to prepare themselves for the worst, but it seems AMD is looking to capitalize on the Blackwell generation’s recent debacles.

Still, there has been concern about the RX 9070’s pricing. If it ends up being significantly slower than the XT counterpart, AMD might be forced to lower the graphics card’s pricing later down the line.

AMD’s official reveal event for the RDNA 4 lineup goes live in just a few hours. Official performance benchmarks, specifications, and pricing details should be available at this event, giving PC gamers a chance to consider more options after Nvidia’s recent disasters.

Nvidia is also expected to launch the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB next month. Needless to say, PC gamers have plenty to look forward to, even if Nvidia’s offerings have not been the most exciting lately.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Coming to PlayStation 5 in April 2025

  • However, a reliable source has suggested that the wait for PlayStation users may finally be over soon.
  • As per the source, the title could be released on PS5 later in April, alongside Hellblade 2.

Not too long ago, it was reported that Xbox would release more first-party titles on PS5 this year than Sony itself, including iconic franchises like Hellblade, Halo, Gears and others.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was also confirmed to be coming on PS5 after Xbox players enjoyed the great experience of the title first. While the official release date is still unknown, a reliable source has suggested that the title could be coming to PS5 in April.

Why it matters: This shows Xbox is finally going all-in on the multiplatform strategy and we can expect more Xbox games to land on PlayStation.

Xbox first-party games coming to PS5 this year.

As reported by one of the most credible journalists in the industry, Jez Corden, he’s heard from his sources that titles like Hellblade 2 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are coming to PS5 later in April.

Recently, I’ve been hearing from trusted sources that Hellblade 2 was slated to be launching on PlayStation 5 as soon as this April… Indiana Jones is on the docket for around that time frame too.

Since both of the games have been out for Xbox players for quite a few months, it appears to be the right time to release the titles on PS5.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was released for Xbox players in December of last year.

However, it’s best to take this news with a grain of salt, as nothing has been officially confirmed by the developers yet. Still, looking at the previous leaks from Jez, it’s more likely to be true, and an official announcement will be made soon.
