"God of War-Style More Traditional Action-Adventure Game!"

Story Highlight
  • The studio working on the Wonder Woman title was recently shut down.
  • While the title was in development for four years, it has also been canceled.
  • A well-known journalist has recently stated that the canceled title was very similar to God of War in terms of combat.

Wonder Woman game was first announced during the Game Awards 2021, and while the developers were quiet about the title’s development, fans were already worried about its launch.

However, earlier this month, it was also reported that the game was stuck in development hell. A week after the leak, the developers officially confirmed that the Wonder Woman game had been canceled. However, an insider claims that Wonder Woman was similar to God of War before being canceled.

Why it matters: Following the closure announcement, the game’s writer stated that the Wonder Woman game was a dream come true as the studio wanted to create the best game for the fans.

In a recent Kinda Funny Gamescast podcast, Jason Schreier discussed the game’s troubled development, as the studio was also working on another project, codenamed Legacy, which they were eventually forced to abandon.

Following that, many experienced developers had already left the studio to form Cliffhanger Games. While this was already a significant reason, an internal debate about whether to use Monolith’s proprietary engine or switch to Unreal Engine caused more trouble for the studio.

However, Jason further stated that the canceled Wonder Woman game would be like a God of War-style title as it was a more traditional action-adventure title.

they rebooted it to be more of a kind of God of War style more traditional action adventure game but by then I mean it was kind of too late.

The recent failures from Warner Bros., which nearly cost them around $400 million in losses on games just last year, were among the major reasons for the studio’s closure and the project’s cancelation.
