Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake has been anticipated for a long time, and the remake is expected to be revealed at the PlayStation showcase. Reports also claimed that the game would be exclusive to PlayStation 5.
However, popular leaker Jez Corden recently revealed that the title could be on multiple platforms.
Why it matters: PlayStation has been known to sign third-party exclusivity deals, and games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake were never released for Xbox, despite being timed exclusives.
Jez noted that it might be a timed exclusive for PS5 and eventually come to Xbox. He said:
“at least in the case of metal gear, it could actually be multiplatform.”
The leaker further speculated that PlayStation’s deal with Konami could also be related to exclusive content like DLC. Previously, the gaming giant signed similar deals for exclusive content with games like Hogwarts Legacy.
As such, Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake could see extra missions on the PlayStation platform. However, timed exclusivity sounds like great news for Xbox fans who have been anticipating the remake for a long time.
Jez also suggested that Sony could just have a marketing agreement for Metal Gear Solid. In any case, he believes it is likely that, eventually, it will be available on other platforms.
According to previous reports, Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will be coming in 2024. Having the game on multiple platforms could also help Konami bring a bigger audience to the classic franchise.
