- Konami has not officially confirmed the release dates for the Metal Gear Solid 3 and Silent Hill 2 remakes.
- According to PlayStation’s latest video, both games will be released in 2024.
- With the release window quickly approaching, Konami could begin a massive marketing push soon.
Konami is leading its comeback in the AAA gaming industry with two huge remakes. Both Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid are part of this initiative, with Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 receiving the remake treatment.
The latter recently received a new gameplay trailer, highlighting completely rebuilt environments and models. Neither remake has a concrete release date yet, but PlayStation’s latest teaser hints that both titles are arriving in 2024.
Why it matters: The Metal Gear IP has sold over 60 million units, defining the stealth-action genre during its inception. Similarly, the Silent Hill series is held in high regard as a massive horror game series.
PlayStation has just released a video showcasing the latest games of 2024. The compilation features titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and Stellar Blade.
More interesting, however, is the fact that PlayStation includes Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in the video. While this remake has seemingly been in development for a while, Konami’s marketing has been very limited.
Similarly, the Silent Hill 2 Remake has left fans starved for more information. In this remake’s case, a report recently stated that most of the work has been completed, with Bloober Team now working on bug fixes and polishing.
Anyhow, this teaser suggests a 2024 release is locked in for both games.
With 2024 underway, one of the two remakes could be months away. We expect Konami to begin marketing through a separate showcase or PlayStation’s first State of Play of 2024, possibly revealing the release dates for both games.
Silent Hill 2 Remake is a PlayStation timed-exclusive, while Metal Gear Solid is arriving on all platforms at release.
The former’s marketing contract means that it is likely to show up at a PlayStation event, while Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater could also be a part of the rumored Xbox Developer Direct for this month.
