Marvel’s Wolverine No-Show At Summer Game Fest Has The Fandom Concerned

Expert Verified By

Is The Game Secretly Canceled?

Story Highlight
  • The highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine was revealed by Insomniac Games in 2021.
  • It has almost been four years since the reveal, and the developer has not given any further crucial information about the games.
  • The fandom is concerned that the game has been canceled because it didn’t show up at either the State of Play or the Summer Game Fest.

Back in 2023, Insomniac Games suffered a massive data breach, and with the passage of time, Marvel’s Wolverine gameplay footage and early builds were leaked. Despite that, Insomniac confirmed that the development is going smoothly.

However, the developer also stated that there would be no news soon, which was concerning for many fans. It has been a long time since we last heard about Wolverine, so fans were expecting it to appear at the PlayStation State of Play. When it didn’t appear at the event, the fandom was expecting it to make an appearance at the Summer Game Fest.

However, it was a new show at the second event too, which is why the fandom thinks it has been canceled

Why it matters: It won’t be unprecedented for the developer to cancel a title after not giving any updates on it for years.

Marvel’s Wolverine Was Officially Revealed By Insomniac Games Almost 4 Years Ago At PlayStation Showcase

The Summer Game Fest was pretty bland, but Resident Evil Requiem’s reveal saved the day. Despite this game’s appearance, it was a mid-event, which is exactly what the fandom thought there might be another big surprise.

The only surprise in the event was the upcoming Resident Evil, which in fact did hype a massive amount of fans, but Marvel’s Wolverine fans were left disappointed.

I know that “Marvel’s Wolverine has been cancelled” announcement is coming one of these days, I’m not gonna like it, but I’ve accepted that it’s coming.

Fans are now skeptical that the game has been canceled, and we might hear about it soon from Insomniac. The developer also didn’t release the three free DLCs for Spider-Man 2, and also canceled Spider-Man: The Great Web, a standalone multiplayer title set within the Spider-verse

Despite partnering with Summer Game Fest 2025, Sony shows no sign of Marvel’s Wolverine. Why the game is still missing – and what that means.

The signs from Insomniac do indicate that the title may be canceled in the future, but hopefully, it doesn’t go to that. What do you think about this matter?
