Low Resolution Joel Becomes A Meme On PC

Not The Joel We Hoped For!

The Last of Us has amassed a global fan base, but it is currently in hot water due to the poor PC port, which has left many gamers feeling utterly disappointed. It performs horrendously on PC, gathering thousands of negative reviews.

The lower-powered Steam Deck does not seem to handle the game well either, and it has also spawned a new meme through a low-resolution version of the main character, Joel.

This lackluster rendering of Joel’s character at the lowest settings has made him a laughingstock within the PC gaming community. Some gamers have even claimed that Joel looks scarier than the game’s ‘Clickers,’ which are monstrous, infected creatures that players must combat throughout the game.

The game presents a low-resolution version of Joel, with black eyebrows covering his eyelids and a vast portion of his forehead.

Joel’s cheekbones are unnaturally deep, absorbing any light that tries to reflect off them. Moreover, his hair has erratic patches, where the rendering struggles to keep up. All of these issues make the character seem like he belongs to a completely different generation of gaming.

The low-resolution rendering of Joel is just one of the many problems gamers have encountered with the PC port. The Last of Us Part 1 is drawing a lot of flak due to its horrible performance on PC and the Steam Deck.

It also shows frequent crashes and CPU bottleneck issues.

Despite the negativity surrounding the PC port, Joel’s image has become a viral meme in the PC community. Gamers have been sharing screenshots of the poorly rendered Joel, accompanied by witty captions and hilarious comments.
