Hogwarts Legacy Made Around $850M In Just 2 Weeks Despite Boycott

12 Million Copies Sold!

Hogwarts Legacy, one of the most anticipated games of 2023, was launched a while ago, and it started making highlights. The game has gorgeous graphics, and the plot is great. Right after the game’s release, it reached 700k concurrent players on Steam, which tells much about the game.

It has been 2 weeks since the game was released, and the hype surely isn’t dying. There was a dispute going on just a while ago regarding JK Rowling. Due to that, many players and even the developers were boycotting the game. Still, despite that, the game has been highly successful.

Warner Bros. Games revealed that Hogwarts Legacy had sold 12 million copies worldwide, making $850 million in sales. This huge sum in just 2 weeks is remarkable and will likely increase even more.

Call of Duty Modern: Warfare 2 made $1 billion in retail in 10 days, and Hogwarts Legacy achieved a similar milestone. That said, Hogwarts Legay has crossed 1.28 million concurrent views, the most in Twitch’s history for a single-player game.

Regarding the sales, a gaming investor and a University professor who studies the business of video games, Joost van Dreunen, have said the sales numbers are a massive success. He further said:

“It is evidence of the appeal of strong intellectual property to mainstream gaming audiences.”

The game is now considered in the same league as Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto games, which is a huge feat. Due to the massive success, we can expect a TV Show of Hogwarts Legacy. Regarding that, HBO Max might be working on the TV Show.

Also, it is worth noticing that Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad told Variety they are happy with the game. He said:

“We are very pleased with the initial launch and see a bright future for our other platform launches.”

Hogwarts Legacy is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows. In April, the game will be available on PS4 and Xbox One, and in July, it will be available on Nintendo Switch. We await what the game has in store for us, as there is currently no DLC Planned.

Aside from that, what do you think of this massive success of Hogwarts Legacy? Did you contribute to making this big sale possible? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
