Mortal Kombat 12 Announced During An Investor Call

MK12 Is Coming!

In an unexpected turn of events, the next game from NetherRealm Studios has just been announced. While many had already expected the fighting game developer’s next game to be revealed soon, a new Mortal Kombat game has now been confirmed.

In a recent investors call, Warner Bros Discovery has officially confirmed Mortal Kombat 12

The announcement was made alongside PlayStation’s State of Play, but Warner Bros did not reveal the game at PlayStation’s event.

Over the last decade, NetherRealm Studios has alternated between Mortal Kombat and Injustice games. However, it seems like the developer is looking to take things one step further for the next title with a new Mortal Kombat.

Recently, Ed Boon also expressed interest in a potential remaster or sequel for Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. While many fans had their hopes up, the classic spin-off may not be revisited for some time.

The last three Mortal Kombat games have all been very different from each other. NetherRealm has effectively offered a different style of gameplay with each new entry, so the developer could take a similar approach to Mortal Kombat 12

There is little doubt that franchise mascots like Skorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, and more will return for the upcoming game, but fans can expect a few newcomers as well.

A proper reveal with a trailer could also follow soon. Mortal Kombat has always been a highly popular fighting game series, and Mortal Kombat 12 will likely be no different.

With upcoming games like Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8, fighting games were already looking better than ever, and Mortal Kombat 12 should only add to the excitement surrounding the genre.
