Xbox’s phase of major restructuring continues, as today marked yet another unfortunate, eventful day. There have been additional layoffs and studio mergers, but more importantly, a major studio is going to be shut down soon. 

Unfortunately, Xbox hasn’t been able to find a potential buyer for Hellblade studio, Ninja Theory, and the studio will now be shut down. The company has confirmed there were two offers, but they both fell through. 

Why it matters: This seems too cruel for the development team who had been working on their next game titled Senua, which was showcased at Xbox Games Showcase. It doesn’t seem they’ll be able to finish the title. 

Xbox CCO Matt Booty revealed that there were two offers for Ninja Theory, but they failed. While they are heading towards an eventual closer, they are still on the lookout in case they receive any more offers. 

The studio was one of the 4 that were affected by the first round of restructuring. While the other three studios have found a home, Ninja Theory is left stranded, but let’s hope they do find a potential buyer and stay afloat. 

The studio developed the Hellblade games, which don’t have a huge fan base, but were still popular. Xbox already garnered a lot of backlash when they let the studio reveal Senua and then announced its closure.
