Hike in Game Prices Seems Inevitable Now!

Story Highlight
  • Forza Horizon 6 Premium Edition is out and has already garnered 172K players on Steam.
  • The version costs $120, but based on the success, it suggests fans are fine with the price.
  • This clearly indicates players are willing to pay more for what they think is worth it.

The discussion of game prices has always been a heated debate in the industry. $60 to $70 games have been the norm for the longest time, but as GTA 6 approaches, there have been discussions that we could see an inevitable price hike.

While many players openly call this out and say that $80 is too much money for a game, Steam shows a different trend. Forza Horizon 6 Premium Edition, priced at $120, currently boasts a massive 172K players on the platform.

Why it matters: While the base variant of the game is still the usual but $70, the premium version offers early access to the game and costs $50 more; the numbers show fans have willingly paid that amount.

Forza Horizon 6 Steam Concurrent Player Count
Forza Horizon 6’s early access has already broken the concurrent players record for racing games

Forza Horizon 6 is currently the 2nd highest-selling game on Steam after Subnautica 2. However, since the game is out for those with the premium edition, it has already established quite a substantial player base

It has already been such a huge hit that, with 172K concurrent players, it became Steam’s biggest racing game of all time. More importantly, these stats are for the premium version that costs a whopping $120.

This indicates players are fine with high prices for what they think is worth it

This clearly suggests that if players are invested in something, they are fine with spending more. So, while Rockstar hasn’t committed to GTA 6 being $80, it seems inevitable that the prices are bound to go up soon enough.
