- Fallout 76 has more than doubled its concurrent player counts on Steam.
- The game has reached nearly 40K players to set a new record.
- It has also joined the list of the top 10 Steam best-selling games.
The Fallout franchise is having its best time in years. Following a new surge in Fallout 4 player counts, Fallout 76 is the next in line to receive its big comeback.
The game has already become popular among fans who stuck with it for many years. Over half a decade after its launch, it has achieved a new concurrent player count record on Steam today.
Why it matters: Fallout 76 has been on the market since 2018, yet it has never found as many players on Steam.
As seen on SteamDB, Fallout 76 reached nearly 40K players today. Not too long ago, the game averaged player counts of around 10-15K.
However, these figures shot up today, with the game reaching twice as many players. Bethesda was wise enough to offer the game on sale alongside the current excitement of the Amazon TV show.
Fallout 76 is also free-to-play on Steam temporarily, inviting new players to try the experience at no additional cost. This trial period lasts for three more days, so we expect the game to continue reaching such player counts this week.
Moreover, the game has climbed to the top 10 of Steam’s best-sellers. Fallout 4 is also high on the list, signifying a resurgence for the series in its entirety.
The current excitement has even led to boosted player counts for older games like the original Fallout. Overall, the series is livelier than it has been in years. For returning fans, Fallout 4 and 76 offer fresh experiences today.
The former is set to receive a next-gen update soon, while the latter has been transformed into a completely different experience through years of support and 17 million lifetime players.
New players will also find plenty to keep themselves busy as they discover how Bethesda curated one of gaming’s finest RPG franchises.
