Epic Games is Teasing Unreal Engine 6 Despite the Persistent UE5 Technical Issues

Rocket League Could be The First Title Migrating to UE6!

Story Highlight
  • Epic Games has revealed the new era and new engine update for Rocket League.
  • This is a clear nod to the publisher’s next-generation engine, Unreal Engine 6.
  • However, Epic Games still hasn’t fixed the big technical issues with UE5 yet.

Unreal Engine 5 was deemed the next generation of game engines that would introduce groundbreaking visuals. While it undoubtedly excels in that part, it is a nightmare to optimize, and most modern games are held back due to that.

Despite the persistent technical issues with the engine still unresolved, Epic Games has already started teasing its next iteration, Unreal Engine 6. They just showcased Rocket League’s future with a brand new engine.

Why it matters: Epic has teased the version before as well, claiming that it will deliver some core improvements, but the optimization is where it is being left in the dust, especially against others like the Decima Engine.

At the Rocket League Major Paris, Epic Games revealed what the future holds for the game. It teased a brand new era and a new engine for the game, which is claimed to be Epic’s next upgrade, the Unreal Engine 6.

The trailer explicitly reveals the engine with a new purple logo, and considering that Rocket League is Epic’s in-house title and is currently based on a many years old Unreal Engine 3, it seems like the logical way forward.

Rocket League could be the first game to migrate to UE6

However, despite even more visual flares, technical issues are what fans really want fixed. Every major studio is currently using Unreal Engine, and if optimization continues to remain bad, it won’t be long before the studios jump ship.
