Elden Rings Wins Big With 145 GOTY Awards!

Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok have been the best new releases in 2022. Both games had competed fiercely for the Game of The Year award, but Elden Ring took the award home at TGA 2022.

However, this was not the only GOTY award for Elden Ring. FromSoftware’s latest title also won Ultimate Game of The Year at Golden Joystick. Additionally, Resetera user BrickArts295 has noted that Elden Ring has 145 GOTY Awards in total.

God of War Ragnarok is in second place with only 26 GOTY awards, making Elden Ring’s number of accolades over 5 times higher.

The user has counted awards from various media outlets, and reader’s choice awards have also been included. While both games have received heaps of praise from multiple media outlets, only 24 GOTY awards were given to God of War Ragnarok, compared to 136 for Elden Ring from the Media Outlets.

Following the recent Steam sale, Elden Ring also jumped back to the number 1 best seller spot on Steam. The game held this position for several months after launch, and the recent attention helped it reclaim the spot.

While God of War Ragnarok might be trailing behind Elden Ring, the game has no shortage of achievements. It won numerous awards at TGA 2022 and took home PlayStation Blog’s Game of The Year award

Both games serve as excellent examples of AAA gaming’s possibilities. Recent years have been full of buggy, unfinished, and poor releases, but Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok highlight the strengths of the AAA gaming industry.

Fans of both games also have a lot of content to look forward to in the future. God of War Ragnarok is getting a New Game+ mode in spring 2023, which should incentivize second playthroughs with additional items in the game. A Tv show based on the franchise is also in development.

Elden Ring has already received a PVP arena, but director Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed that even more content is on the way. Previous FromSoftware games have seen full-fledged DLC releases with new locations, weapons, and bosses, and Elden Ring might be receiving similar treatment in the future.

What do you think about the difference in GOTY awards between Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok? Which game do you like more?
