- Skull and Bones’ Deluxe edition is discounted at 90% on Steam, available for just $3.
- The game’s standard edition is even cheaper, going for just $2.19 on the platform.
- The pirate adventure title was set to be Ubisoft’s first AAAA title, but it has flopped badly.
Ubisoft has made some lofty promises in the last few years and failed to fulfill them, leading to its current decline. The publisher is now streamlining its direction, but the company has made some big mistakes, including the terrible open-world pirate game Skull and Bones.
Originally developed as a DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, the title was marketed as the company’s first AAAA game. However, even after taking $850 million to make, Skull and Bones bombed with just 400 players on Steam. Now, the game has reached its lowest price in history, which could make trying it worthwhile.
Why it matters: Ubisoft failing to give fans a good game, which it almost spent $1 billion developing, is the perfect culmination of its recent era of failures.

Skull and Bones is currently available for an extremely low price of $2.99 for its Deluxe edition on Steam. The game has been discounted by 90% just two years after launching worldwide with immense hype from Ubisoft.
The pirate adventure’s standard edition is even cheaper, obtainable for only $2.19, while the Year 2 Premium edition is slightly more expensive, selling for $4.39. Hence, if you ever wanted to give Skull and Bones a try, this is the perfect time.
This isn’t new for the pirate adventure title, as it was discounted by 50% just two months after release due to dwindling player numbers. Considering the ambitious plans Ubisoft outlined for Skull and Bones at launch, even reiterating them on the game’s first anniversary, this is an embarrassing result for the company.

Skull and Bones was one of the publisher’s two AAAA games alongside Assassin’s Creed Mirage. However, it failed to outperform Suicide Squad and lost 90% of its players in a few months. Therefore, it’s safe to say that Ubisoft isn’t trying out the AAAA formula anytime soon.
