Diablo Franchise Has Reached A Whopping 100 Million Players

Thanks To Diablo 4 And DIablo Immortal!

Story Highlight
  • The first Diablo game was released back in 1996, and the series has grown exponentially since then.
  • The whole franchise has reached over 100 million players.
  • Among these, 42 million players come from Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4.

Diablo has become one of the industry’s most renowned and biggest franchises. The recent entry has been a huge success, but it has also faced much backlash due to bugs and microtransactions.

Diablo 4 upset Steam users on multiple occasions, leading to review bombings. However, the game reached a whopping 12 million players shortly after launch. Blizzard has now revealed that the franchise has reached over 100 million players

Why it matters: Diablo has been around for nearly three decades at this point. Therefore, this achievement has been a long time coming.

Diablo 4 Has Received A Lot of Hate Due To Overpriced Microtransactions

The official Diablo Twitter account revealed this new milestone.

From Diablo I to Diablo IV, more than 100 million players have joined in the fight against Hell.

It is great to see the franchise doing this well, but the latest entry in the series has been controversial. The reviews are still not that positive, mainly because of the microtransactions.

That said, the studio is currently celebrating the new milestone its beloved franchise achieved. Over 30 million users came from Diablo Immortal, showing the successful transition to mobile gaming.

Other than that, Blizzard hasn’t disclosed the exact player counts of all the games, but we know that over 42 million users came just from Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 managed to make $666 million in just a week. If this wasn’t enough, it became even bigger after arriving on Xbox Game Pass.

On that note, it would be reasonable to believe that the subscription launch helped the franchise reach this milestone. Perhaps 100 million would not have come so soon without Xbox Game Pass.

The Diablo franchise may no longer be the talk of the town in 2024, but its latest entry is still quite popular.

ARPG enthusiasts and longtime fans have mostly enjoyed everything Blizzard has offered this time, even if the microtransactions have been less than acceptable on more than one occasion.
