Demon’s Souls Remake Progress To Character Creation On PS5 Emulator In One Week

PS5 Emulation Is Making Huge Strides Day By Day!

Story Highlight
  • Demon’s Souls Remake has now reached its character creation screen through PS5 emulator SharpEmu.
  • This milestone was achieved after roughly one week of development progress.
  • The game still has a long way to go on PC, but it is showing immense potential for now.

PS5 emulation appears to be advancing faster than many expected. Many games have already reached splash screens on the emulator following PlayStation’s physical disc announcement, and yet another big milestone has now been reached.

Now, Demon’s Souls Remake has moved beyond its splash screen, showcasing unprecedented progress in just a week.

Why it matters: Demon’s Souls is one of the PS5’s most technically impressive exclusives. Using the title as a test for SharpEmu should allow the developers to run other games relatively easily moving forward.

The video above shows Demon’s Souls Remake running on SharpEmu. Previously, the game was limited to its splash screen, but modders have now managed to push past this limitation.

The video showcases a few menus from the remake, while also highlighting the character creation itself. Although the game is far from playable and shows many errors, this progress is quite reminiscent of ShadPS4’s rapid work on making Bloodborne playable on PC.

Of course, PS5 emulation remains a work in progress, but the pace at which SharpEmu is advancing may lead to PlayStation’s shift away from PC meaning little in the long run.

Bluepoint Games Outdid Itself With The Remake

In Demon’s Souls’ case, many already believe the game deserves to join PlayStation’s PC releases. Also, the team behind the remake has been shut down by Sony, so modders may be inclined to preserve the studio’s legacy on PC.

Do you expect PS5 emulation to become practical this generation, or is a full Demon’s Souls PC port still the more realistic outcome?
