- A notorious Black Ops 2 hacker is causing players to abandon matches on PS5.
- The hacker can ruin or reset player accounts, making some lobbies risky.
- The issue has once again raised fresh concerns about older Call of Duty titles and their hacking problem.
Black Ops 2’s re-release has been one of Call of Duty’s most exciting launches in recent years, so much so that players even decided to forego the PS Plus boycott for the title.
In doing so, players quickly drove the game up to 7 million sales, but a hacker now poses a major threat to millions of players’ enjoyment. According to various reports, players are being reset by a prominent hacker, with no way to currently avoid this situation.
Why it matters: Many are loving Black Ops 2’s return at the moment. Therefore, it’s a real shame to see the game held back by legacy problems.
As seen in Timthetatman’s latest Twitter video, the hacker “C Isn’t Sharp” is able to reset players’ progress simply by being in their lobby for a few seconds. The hacker also goes by multiple different names.
Players are effectively running away from this hacker at the moment as a precaution. It is advised that players simply leave the lobby as soon as they run into this player, although this may not necessarily guarantee safety. Some also say that it’s better to close the PS5 application instead of leaving the lobby.
The situation is serious enough to make the game unplayable for some users. Once reset, players effectively lose all their progress as they are unable to enter multiplayer matchmaking without resetting their account.
As such, many players have simply decided to avoid playing the game until the problem is dealt with.
To make matters more interesting, it is said that this hacker is the same person who previously plagued Black Ops 2’s Xbox version for a long time. Many have also begun investigating “C Isn’t Sharp,” threatening to dox the hacker if he doesn’t stop terrorizing the Call of Duty fanbase.
The good news is that Call of Duty has acknowledged the issue in a recent tweet. As such, it will be interesting to see when Black Ops 2 is safe to play online again.
