Black Flag Resynced Excitement Pushing Players Towards Original Game!

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has led to visible excitement within the series’ fandom.
  • The original game has recently reached over 3,500 concurrent Steam players, an all-time high in the last two years.
  • Fans also previously pushed the remake to the top of the best-sellers list on platforms like PlayStation.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is shaping up to be one of Ubisoft’s best modern releases already, and fans couldn’t be more excited to jump into the studio’s first big remake.

Ahead of this release, plenty of encouraging information has been shared by the studio, and excitement for the remake is palpable, showcased by the original Assassin’s Creed Black Flag’s ongoing resurgence.

Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches in July, but it appears players are unwilling to wait this long to jump back into this fan-favorite title.

Currently, the original Assassin’s Creed 4 is seeing its biggest numbers on Steam in over 2 years. At the time of writing, 2,149 players are currently active in the game, but it also peaked at just over 3,500 players earlier this month.

For reference, the last time Assassin’s Creed Black Flag hit similar numbers was in February 2024, when it peaked at 3,594 concurrent Steam players. What makes these figures even more interesting is the fact that Ubisoft has not offered a discount or sale on Assassin’s Creed 4.

The game is still being sold for the price of $40 on Steam, so these figures hint that players are either returning to the title or buying it at full price in anticipation of the remake.

It’s no secret that Black Flag has been a fan-favorite Ubisoft release for a while. When it first launched in 2013, the title was met with an exceptional reception while being lauded for doing something fresh with the series.

Love for this entry has only grown since then, so perhaps it isn’t too big a surprise that players are revisiting it in such massive numbers.
