Built For 4K Gaming With 1440p Pricing!

Story Highlight
  • The RX 9070 and 9070 XT have been confirmed for a March 6 release.
  • Both graphics cards sport 16GB of memory and perform better than the RX 7900 GRE.
  • AMD is advertising the GPUs for 4K gaming but at a 1440p price.

AMD’s RDNA 4 lineup created much excitement over rumors of impressive pricing and performance. Sure enough, the company has brought plenty to the table, officially unveiling the Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT today.

Just over an hour ago, the gaming giant officially confirmed that this lineup would start at the low price of $549.

Why it matters: AMD previously developed a reputation for offering budget-friendly alternatives to Nvidia in the PC gaming market. It seems the gaming giant is looking to capitalize on this reputation again.

AMD Boasts Performance Better Than The RX 7900 GRE With Its Latest Lineup

As per AMD, the RX 9070 is 21% faster than the 7900 GRE at 4K, putting it behind the flagship RX 7900 XTX. On the other hand, the RX 9070 XT is said to be barely slower than the RX 7900 XTX for the price of $599.

Compared to Nvidia’s offerings, the vanilla RX 9070 is said to be 26% faster than the RTX 3080. Both graphics cards also sport 16GB of memory and PCIe 5.0 support, making them more than capable of 4K gaming.

In fact, AMD’s tagline for the series is “4K gaming at 1440p pricing.” The company states that the RDNA 4 architecture offers improved ray tracing, and FSR 4 is expected to take upscaling to the next level.

AMD believes FSR 4 will offer much-improved frame rates while offering image quality that looks just as good as native rendering. While these claims have yet to be tested by the public, both graphics cards are coming out very soon.

The Radeon RX 9070 lineup launches on March 6, and AMD expects plenty of stock at release.

Following this release, the gaming giant will begin preparations for its next few RNDA 4 releases. The company has already teased the RX 9060 lineup, setting the stage for even more budget-friendly graphics cards.
