- Epic is promoting AI-coded launcher upgrades that focus on faster performance.
- The company’s messaging also takes direct aim at Steam, calling Valve’s launcher “the other guy.”
- Many have criticized Epic Games’ use and advertisement of AI, especially due to the company’s recent layoffs.
Epic Games recently went all in on AI, and its latest post highlights one part of this shift.
After many requests from the community, the studio is highlighting major upgrades to its launcher. However, it has done so in a manner that has left many shocked, advertising vibe coding to speed up the Epic Games launcher.
Why it matters: Companies don’t tend to boast about their use of AI in such a bold manner, so Epic Games’ approach is certainly different from that of the majority.

Epic Games has recently boasted about launcher upgrades built with AI assistance while also taking shots at Steam. The studio states that its new launcher is “faster than the other guy.” As seen in the image above, this “other guy” in question is Steam.
Those who have tested the update have praised Epic Games’ work on the new launcher, but the fact remains that the studio’s wording on the matter is nothing but bizarre, especially since AI continues to be a controversial subject in the games industry.
In the comments section, many people have criticized the studio, including the likes of the Baldur’s Gate 3 publishing director. Note that Epic Games faced a number of redundancies not too long ago, which are largely said to be AI-related.

The company also says that fans should not expect a bug-free experience with the new launcher. However, Epic Games remains interested in further improvements moving forward.
