Starfield May Have Been Too Challenging For Switch 2!

Story Highlight
  • A new report claims Starfield’s Switch 2 port may have been cancelled or shelved.
  • Development challenges are said to be the main reason behind the uncertain status.
  • Bethesda has not officially announced Starfield for Switch 2, so this remains unconfirmed for now.

Starfield has been through a number of updates since its release in 2023. Rumors also suggest Bethesda was working on a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game until recently.

However, it seems this version was in jeopardy for a while, and with past rumors also pointing to the possibility of a cancellation,  reports now suggest that it may have been cancelled altogether.

Why it matters: Bethesda has been supporting the Nintendo Switch platform for years now, releasing titles like Skyrim and Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo hardware.

Starfield shot to the top of the PSN pre-orders chart before launch.

Starfield expanded beyond Xbox and PC earlier this year, but the RPG was rumored for a Nintendo Switch 2 release for a while now.

This information came from reliable insider NateTheHate, who has now shared an update on the matter. He states that the Nintendo Switch 2 port has faced development problems.

Note that the insider does not mention that the project has been cancelled, but he does say that a cancellation wouldn’t be surprising at this point. Although the insider does not go into too many specifics, many always expected Starfield’s transition to the Nintendo Switch 2 to be a challenging one.

Because of how big the game is, it even pushes the Xbox Series S|X and PS5 to their limits in certain instances. Therefore, it wouldn’t be shocking if Bethesda failed to make a viable Nintendo Switch 2 port.

Bethesda struggling with Starfield on the Switch 2 means that games like GTA 6 might struggle in a similar manner. The latter was recently discussed by Nintendo of America’s president in an interview.
