- Phantom Blade Zero appears to be skipping a physical release entirely.
- An earlier PS5 listing for a physical release from an Asian retailer has now been pulled.
- With no signs of an upcoming disc version, the game might be limited to a digital release.
Phantom Blade Zero previously showed signs of skipping a physical release, but an Asian listing gave fans of discs some hope that this would not be the case. Unfortunately, an update on the situation suggests the game will indeed skip a physical release.
Why it matters: Physical games are already on their way out since PlayStation is discontinuing discs in 2028. As such, some may be disappointed to see developers not supporting physical games till then.
Phantom Blade Zero might not receive a physical release after all. As reported on Twitter, the previous PlayAsia listing for the game’s physical release has now been removed from the website, suggesting a disc-based edition is not happening.
Of course, many were already skeptical of PlayAsia’s listing since the game was not available for pre-orders through the disc anywhere else. It seems these suspicions have now come to fruition.
It should be noted that S-Game has yet to say anything officially on the matter. Although slim, the possibility of the game receiving a physical release has not disappeared completely, though the situation appears quite grim for fans of physical media.

Phantom Blade Zero officially launches later this month. Despite the lack of a disc-based edition, the game is expected to perform incredibly well at release, especially since the footage leading up to its release has looked so great thus far.
