A current developer at id Software has bashed the Xbox leadership, saying that they don’t have any plans, are incompetent, and that all they care about is profits, and set unrealistic, aggressive goals for that. Why it matters: id Software is among the most-acclaimed Xbox teams and is behind some of the most iconic franchises. Additionally, its fantastic id Tech engine is also something that makes it a standout. Talking to Aftermath, an id Software employee who chose to remain anonymous, talked about the current situation at the studio. He said that even after a few months, the environment is quite chaotic and morale is down. The only concrete thing they have communicated is they want higher profits, and they want it now. Aggressive goals are being set that would have been unrealistic even before the layoffs. He continued that the company doesn’t have a clear vision for the future, and everything they’ve told them is just corporate talk. They have set unrealistic goals for profits, and that is just what the management cares about. This paints a very concerning image for the brand as a whole.
