Kojima Productions recently went through a major transition when it ended its partnership with PlayStation and became a full-time Xbox partner. Now, the gaming giants are funding 2 major Kojima projects, including both Physint and OD.
However, Kojima’s latest post introducing the lead character from OD has sparked a massive backlash from fans for hiring a trans actress, Hunter Schafer. Fans are even calling for a complete boycott of the project.
Why it matters: The cast announcement isn’t a new thing; the lead actors for OD had been known for a long time, however the latest post is attracting a lot of backlash, and fans are blaming Kojima for going woke.

Hideo Kojima posted a video on X, showcasing OD’s development process and the two leads: Sophia Lillis from IT movie, and Hunter Schafer from Euphoria. The latter has become a point of conflict among the fans.
While most don’t really care, since Schafer is a really good actress, many are threatening to boycott OD because of the trans actress. They say that Kojima has fallen into the trap and is going woke like the rest of the industry.
The discourse seems to be massive since most of the comments talk about this. Others have defended the gaming legend, saying that he knows what he’s doing and hating a game just because of an actor doesn’t make sense.
