- The Witcher 3 lead writer says the RPG is not a monument.
- He argues that adding to it wasn’t a big deal for the team because it doesn’t see the game as flawless.
- The lead writer also argues that he thinks there are things the game could have done better.
The Witcher 3 is widely considered one of the finest open-world games to exist, and many believe it personifies the strengths of this genre.
Having sold more than 50 million copies, the game is nothing short of an icon of the games industry. However, a lead developer believes that despite all its achievements, The Witcher 3 isn’t perfect or beyond criticism.
Why it matters: The Witcher 3 excels thanks to its open-world gameplay and narrative qualities. In particular, the game is known for delivering exceptional characters and side content.
As reported by PCGamer, Marcin Blacha, The Witcher 3’s lead writer, believes there is still plenty of room for improvement beyond The Witcher 3. This is perhaps why CDPR doesn’t mind adding more content to the game.
With the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion, the team doesn’t necessarily find it hard to add to the game.
Adding a new expansion is not such a huge deal.
Marcin Blacha also admitted that he doesn’t see the game as an infallible monument in any way. Although millions of fans put The Witcher 3 on a pedestal, the writer thinks the game has parts that could have been done differently.

CDPR is now approaching The Witcher 4’s development with the same mentality, so it will be interesting to see how things turn out for the team.
