Sweet Baby Inc. has become sort of an antagonist figure for many gamers over the years, as many titles that fell under their influence have completely flopped.
Marvel’s Wolverine was the latest AAA entry that hired its consultants to reportedly make it as sterilized, diversified, and accessible as possible. However, the game ended in steep controversy due to poor character designs and gameplay choices.
Warhorse co-founder and Kingdom Come Deliverance director Daniel Vavra bashed the firm following these developments, saying that involving its services is like asking a janitor to perform brain surgery.
Why it matters: Due to Sweet Baby’s influence, Marvel’s Wolverine story and gameplay turned out incredibly sterile and overly accessible. Daniel Vavra argues these consultants have little to no expertise, so they shouldn’t be influencing developers.

Daniel Vavra questions Sweet Baby’s expertise on Twitter, bringing up controversial things its consultants have said over the years. The firm explicitly said it won’t stop pushing its agenda despite the backlash from gamers and the industry.
He questions why many of these advisors, who barely have any experience in the field, influence developers with more skills and talent on how to do their job of developing AAA titles.
How on earth is it possible, that you don’t need to have proper education, experience, or any track record worth mentioning, to work at a company which advises people a thousand times more talented and experienced[?].

Additionally, Daniel points out that many projects that hired consulting services from Sweet Baby turned out to be commercial disasters so far. Concord, Unknown 9, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League are some of the latest examples of these failures.

The industry has also strongly reacted against Sweet Baby’s involvement in Marvel’s Wolverine, with the Knight’s Path studio openly mocking the firm on Twitter.
Do you think Insomniac’s Marvel Wolverine has suffered multiple setbacks because of Sweet Baby Inc.’s involvement, or is this just another wild coincidence? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
