Marvel has expanded its IPs into video games over the last few years, and with titles like Wolverine, Iron Man, and Blade still to come, there is still a lot for Marvel fans to look forward to.
Although the company’s attempt at a massive crossover game with Marvel’s Avengers was a massive failure, reports now suggest that a brand new Avengers game is in the works.
Why it matters: Marvel has recently shown just how big its IPs can be with the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. If done right, an Avengers game could be a huge deal for the industry.
According to leaker DanielRPK, Marvel is preparing another run at an Avengers video game. Although not much else is known about the game, the leaker says that Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are not involved this time around.
Responding to a recent tweet about the project, the leaker noted that he does not have more to share at the moment. Therefore, it’s hard to say exactly how Marvel intends to approach the project.
As a reference, the studio has branched out quite a bit since Marvel’s Avengers’ failure. Games like Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and Marvel Rivals highlight that the company isn’t afraid of trying new things and working with various developers when it comes to these big superhero IPs.
There’s no telling what the team has in store for the next Avengers title, but with the upcoming release of Avengers Doomsday also on the horizon, perhaps this project will be announced in the near future.
