Konami has made various efforts to bring back the Metal Gear Solid series over the last few years, which began with the Master Collection Volume 1 and Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake.
Now, the gaming giant has launched the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2, which comes with a remaster of Metal Gear Solid 4 for the latest platforms. Rumors also suggest another Master Collection is on the way.
Why it matters: The entirety of the Metal Gear series is still not playable on modern consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X.
According to a statement from VGC’s Jodran Middler, Konami may already be planning the next big step for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, and this one could be much more interesting for modern players.
It is said that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 3 could feature Metal Gear Solid 5 and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. The latter is an interesting choice, considering it remains unavailable on the PS5, the current leading console platform.
Some fans have also found the report of Metal Gear Solid 5 being included in the collection odd, since they believe this game doesn’t really need a remaster. Anyhow, most will be glad to know that Metal Gear Rising Revengance is coming back.
The idea would be to do a third one (Master Collection) with Revengeance and a cleaned-up version of 5.
It is also said that Konami will consider the path forward for the series, taking into account the possibilities of new games and remakes like Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater.
