GTA 6 Finally Changing Age-Old Control Scheme For Sprinting

Tapping X To Sprint Is Finally Going Away!

Story Highlight
  • GTA 6 has reportedly changed sprinting from repeated button taps to a hold-based input.
  • The gaming giant used the previous input for sprinting for multiple decades.
  • Many had already requested this change, and it should make sprinting less tiring and mundane.

Rockstar Games is changing a lot with GTA 6, including the game’s Wanted System, driving physics, and more. However, the team has confirmed one change many had been wanting for many years now.

The gaming giant will no longer require players to tap a single button repeatedly to sprint.

Why it matters: This control scheme was iconic among Rockstar Games titles, but many players also found it quite dated and frustrating.

GTA 6 Has Done Away With The Old Sprinting Input

According to reports, Rockstar Games has changed how sprinting works in GTA 6, moving away from the old button-mashing setup that has followed the studio’s open-world games for years.

Instead of tapping X or A to sprint, players will now simply tap L3 and hold the left analog stick forward to sprint in GTA 6. This marks a huge shift, especially after the team retained the previous control scheme for multiple games.

It is said that this change came as a result of Rockstar Games wanting players to be able to do more while sprinting. With players no longer needing to tap X or A, they can simultaneously sprint while shooting or performing other actions.

Of course, this also means that fans won’t be tired while playing GTA 6. In the past, this was a problem with Rockstar Games’ titles, especially when playing on consoles.
