As reported by Polymarket, multiple movie studios are currently worried about GTA 6. The major concern is that the game could pull audiences away from theaters for weeks.
This could lead to worse performance for the box office as the year closes, which would be a shame after Spider-Man: Brand New Days’ recent success. Note that an upcoming movie like Avengers Doomsday did initially beat out GTA 6 in terms of pre-orders.
However, Rockstar Games’ latest marketing beats have put the spotlight back on its upcoming release. GTA 6 launches on November 19, while major box office blockbusters like Avengers Doomsday and Dune Part 3 launch on December 18.
Although this gives the movies a full month to fight for audience attention, the general scope of Grand Theft Auto means that players are still likely to find themselves busy with GTA 6 by the time these movies roll around.
