Hogwarts Legacy was a huge breakout hit for WB Games. It was the game Harry Potter fans had been waiting for years, putting them into the school of witchcraft and wizardry, and helping them with their own magical journey.
The publisher confirmed that there were plans for a sequel, and while it was pretty much already known based on rumors and listings, an internal Warner Bros. letter has officially confirmed Hogwarts Legacy 2 is now in development.
Why it matters: The title has sold a massive over 40 million units to date making it incredibly successful. Since the original didn’t get any DLC, fans have been looking forward to the sequel ever since the first game.
In an internal letter to its shareholders, Warner Bros. for the first time since the rumors actually confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is indeed in development. It doesn’t give us any other details to work with except that.
We expect Games to more meaningfully contribute to segment profitability going forward as our pipeline expands, including the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy
Now, there have been rumors as to when we could officially see the game. HBO is set to release the first season of its Harry Potter reboot in December later this year, so we could have our first look at the game close to it.
However, this is just speculation, and we don’t really know how deep into development the title is. There have also been rumors that it will feature multiplayer elements unlike the first game, but let’s just wait and see.
