- Warhorse Studios has confirmed the ongoing rumors that it is working on two new projects.
- An open-world Middle-Earth RPG is in development, alongside a new Kingdom Come entry.
- The team confirms that more details will come in the future, as both titles are likely in early development.
It appears that the leaks were true after all. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 developer Warhorse Studios was rumored to be working on a huge immersive story-driven RPG, as per recent reports.
The team refused to confirm whether it was KCD3 or the rumored Lord of the Rings venture. As it turns out, it’s both. Warhorse Studios confirms that it is working on two new games.
An open-world Lord of the Rings RPG is in development, set in Middle-earth, alongside a new Kingdom Come adventure.
Why it matters: Warhorse Studios is officially exploring a licensed franchise for the first time with an open-world Middle-earth RPG, so fan expectations are at an all-time high.

Warhorse announced the existence of both games via its Twitter handle, acknowledging the ongoing rumors. The reveal comes after months of speculation about Warhorse Studios’ next venture.
Previous rumors had suggested that Warhorse was the team behind Embracer’s $100 million Lord of the Rings game, which was dubbed an open-world RPG. It was described as a massive shift from the studio’s historical roots.
However, Warhorse was deemed talented and capable of bringing Embracer’s ambitions for a large-scale LOTR RPG to life.
It’s still unclear whether this LOTR entry will feature the studio’s hardcore RPG elements that it’s come to be known for in Kingdom Come titles.

However, we’ll find out the finer details in the future. Warhorse mentions that it will reveal more information as the development of both games continues; they are expected to be in the early stages of development.
Do you think the new Middle-earth RPG will be a more realistic experience like Kingdom Come games, or will Warhorse go for a more traditional approach? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
