Why It Matters: Resident Evil Requiem is one of the most important releases of 2026, and seeing the game succeed both commercially and critically early on is a big win for the industry.

Resident Evil Requiem has become the best-selling paid title on the Steam global top sellers list ahead of its launch, ranking ahead of fan-favorite games like Arc Raiders and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
The horror title was already one of the most wishlisted titles on the platform, breaking into the top 5 in the wishlist ranking, and from the looks of it, the hype has translated into sales.
Thanks to the excitement around Leon’s return in Resident Evil Requiem, the Resident Evil 4 remake has also made it into the top 10 of the global top sellers chart at no.7, beating out Helldivers 2 and Monster Hunters Wilds.

Capcom did predict stronger sales for Resident Evil Requiem compared to its predecessor, and the game is certainly delivering. With a stunning Nintendo Switch 2 port also set to launch day-and-date with other editions, it won’t be surprising if the horror title breaks franchise sales records.
