Former PlayStation Exec Says FormSoftware’s The Duskbloods Is The Most Exciting Switch 2 Exclusive

Everyone Is Excited For FromSoftware's Next Blockbuster!

Story Highlight
  • The Duskbloods is former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida’s most anticipated game.
  • Yoshida stated in an interview that he is intrigued by the upcoming title.
  • He also wants to see what FromSoftware does with the Nintendo Switch 2 on a technical level.

FromSoftware took the entire world by surprise when it announced The Duskbloods, a brand new PvPvE title that would be an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2 next year. The exclusivity was not really a fan favourite, as many have been waiting for the developer’s next project after Elden Ring.

But it was a big win for Nintendo, so much so that even competing parties, including former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida, have shown interest in The Duskbloods.

Why This Matters: The Duskbloods is a creative gamble, and the anticipation around it could turn sour if FromSoftware doesn’t pull it off.

The Duskbloods
The Duskbloods will launch next year in June.

While talking to PlayStationInside in a new interview, Yoshida revealed that The Duskbloods was his most anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 title. The ex-PlayStation executive stated that the PvPvE title was what intrigued him in the Switch 2 lineup.

In addition, Shuhei Yoshida expressed interest in seeing what FromSoftware does with the Nintendo Switch 2 on a technical level, as the console’s power is still not fully known.

I’m very intrigued by The Duskbloods. I’m curious to see what FromSoftware will do a technical level.

The ex-PlayStation executive also praised Elden Ring, saying he is always looking forward to the next FromSoftware game and what they do due to the 2022 RPG’s success. So far, however, Duskbloods is a departure from tradition for the legendary developer as it is offering a multiplayer experience instead of an RPG.

Shuhei Yoshida previously remarked that the company would struggle to adapt to PvP multiplayer, and others have also expressed uncertainty over the new direction FromSoftware is taking. In addition, Miyazaki explicitly saying he isn’t a fan of PvP isn’t a positive sign.

FromSoftware has promised to continue work on single-layer titles.

But, at the end of the day, it is FromSoftware, and it’ll be exciting to see what the team conjures up because even if it’s bad, they will revert to single-player right after.
