- An early version of the GTA 6 map has been ported to GTA 5 and is now playable.
- This build is from 2014/15 and was ported to the game thanks to a 200 GB source code leak which included assets.
- The map is an early concept and probably won’t resemble the final version.
GTA 6 has arguably had the most dramatic pre-release period in recent history. From multiple delays to several leaks, the upcoming Rockstar title has given fans a fair share of entertainment even before its release.
The recent leak, which originated from Rockstar India, was arguably the most perplexing for Rockstar, with the leaker claiming to have a playable build of GTA 6. As it turns out, the company now has another breach of security, as a file containing 192 GB of data has been leaked, including early GTA 6 assets.
Why it matters: Even though the map is a very early concept of what we’ll see in GTA 6, it’ll still be interesting to compare and see what Rockstar omitted from the final game.
A VERY early build (2014/15) of the #GTAVI map leaked today and it's playable within GTA V. So I've put together all of the images I could find that have leaked so far. You can find them in this thread🧵
PLEASE keep in mind, this is VERY early. The only part of the map that even… pic.twitter.com/3WXFQAWjCU

Due to a 200 GB source code leak, an early version of the GTA 6 map is already playable in GTA 5. A 2014/15 build of the game’s map was present in the source code, which originated from the 2022 Rockstar leaks, and has since been modded into the game on PC.
Due to the early nature of the build, the map is extremely unpolished, with the city being the only part that vaguely resembles what players have seen in GTA 6 footage. The texture of the streets and terrain is unfinished, being similar to the renders seen on Google Maps.
floating labels marking ideas for possible locations are also present around the early concept build. Moreover, due to the old nature of the leaked assets, the modded map is not a reflection of the finalised version players will see in GTA 6, which might add or omit content from this early build.

Regardless, the concept map of GTA 6 is currently playable in GTA 5, and is the only way to get a taste of the upcoming open-world title, which will feature a map 2x the size of its predecessor.
Do you think GTA 6 will have a much denser map compared to GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2? Should the game have moved to another location instead of Vice City? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
