Most PlayStation Fans Bought $80 Edition of Ghost of Yotei, After Previously Voting Against The Idea

Same Trend For Doom: The Dark Ages As Well!

Story Highlight
  • The $80 Deluxe Edition of Ghost of Yotei is currently the top seller on the PlayStation Store.
  • This comes after PlayStation fans previously voted against the idea of $80 games.
  • After Nintendo and Xbox, PlayStation is expected to hike game prices as well.

It seems the concept of $80 games will soon become the new normal. After Nintendo introduced Mario Kart World at an inflated price tag, other companies were expected to follow suit. And sure enough, Xbox is set to increase its game prices soon.

In a poll held last month, PlayStation fans voted against the idea of higher-priced games, and while the company hasn’t announced a global price hike yet, based on how the $80 Edition of Ghost of Yotei is selling better than the normal one, it might change soon.

Why it matters: While the standard version of Ghost of Yotei costs $70, the more expensive version is the one fans have spent their money on the most, based on statistics from multiple regions.

Having checked the PS Store from multiple regions, including the US, UK, and Australia, Ghost of Yotei Deluxe Edition is being pre-ordered more than the standard edition. The trend is mostly similar for the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages.

Analysts have already predicted that PlayStation will follow the trend soon. Also, the company has already announced a game price increase in Brazil for October, and we wouldn’t be surprised if other regions get the same treatment.

Ghost of Yotei’s Deluxe version is outselling the Standard Edition

Fans have been furious at Xbox and Nintendo ever since the companies made this announcement, so buying the $80 version of a game which available cheaper as well seems like a move to invite others to increase the prices as well.

What are your thoughts on PlayStation fans buying the $80 edition of Ghost of Yotei over the standard one? Do you support the higher-priced games? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.
