Ghost of Tsushima Still Top Seller On Steam Nearly 2 Weeks After Launch

Over 50K Daily Active Players Too!

Story Highlight
  • Ghost of Tsushima was among the most awaited Sony PC releases of all time.
  • Nearly two weeks after its debut, it continues to show strong results, staying as Steam’s best-selling game.
  • Concurrent player counts are also strong, with the game reaching over 50K players yesterday.

Ghost of Tsushima was finally released on PC just over ten days ago. This Japanese samurai epic has long been anticipated on the platform, and PC gamers did not disappoint Sony earlier this month.

Despite the port falling victim to the same Hellidvers 2 controversy recently, it now claims the title of Sony’s biggest single-player launch on PC. Several days after release, it continues to dominate Steam, staying as the best-selling game on the platform.

Why it matters: Single-player games quickly lose their player base within a week or two, with only a few releases proving to be exceptions in recent years.

Among Steam’s Global Top Sellers, Ghost of Tsushima sits in the 5th spot. However, every game above it is a free-to-play title, while one additional spot is occupied by Valve’s Steam Deck.

Therefore, in terms of premium top-selling games, Ghost of Tsushima dominates the platform. It is important to note that this is still a four-year-old game at heart, making these results more impressive than the average new release.

PlayStation’s latest PC port also impresses when looking at recent concurrent player counts. According to SteamDB, the game peaked at over 53.9K concurrent players yesterday, bringing it close to the all-time peak of 77K players.

Elsewhere on the list, Elden Ring is following closely behind, likely due to the anticipation surrounding Shadow of the Erdtree’s impending release.

Had Ghost of Tsushima not been delisted, it may have even exceeded 100K players. Unfortunately, Sony has shown no interest in relisting the game, so this seems to be how the publisher will approach all future ports with online components.

With God of War Ragnarok reportedly coming up next, PlayStation may set yet another record for single-player games on the platform. This first-party release has already sold more than 15 million units on consoles, so a huge launch on PC is more or less guaranteed.
