This immediately led to excitement among the fans, with many longing to play another thrilling Mafia title. However, this excitement turned into fear for some, and various fans raised concerns about the game potentially failing due to the upcoming release of GTA 6.

Fans expect the game to arrive next year after the announcement, which could set up a clash between Mafia 4 and GTA 6. Twitter users argued that this would not be a great idea.

Since Mafia has not been very relevant in recent years, there is little doubt that it will be unable to compete with GTA. Fans hope that the developers will announce the game this month and release it before the end of the year to avoid clashing with GTA 6.
Others state that Mafia 4 should skip 2025 entirely and aim for a 2026 launch. This would keep it safe from GTA’s shadow and ensure a polished experience once the game arrives.
Certain fans also believe that Take-Two is smart enough to avoid releasing two similar games so close to each other. Since the publisher likely wants both to succeed, it might decide to prepare Mafia 4 for a 2026 release and clear 2025 for Rockstar’s biggest launch alone.
Mafia 4 will probably be announced this year, but I don’t expect it to release until 2026 sadly. Mainly due to GTA 6 coming out in 2025. It wouldn’t make sense for Take Twi to release 2 open world crime games around the same time.

We agree with this theory since the publisher is already aware of GTA’s appeal and popularity. There is also an element of unpredictability in the situation since GTA 6 could also be delayed into 2026.
Anyhow, fans want the best for both Mafia and GTA.
Official information about both games remains slim for now.
GTA 6 has just received a single trailer, but no new reveals are expected until later in 2024. This leaves Mafia 4 with several more months to begin its marketing cycle, and we certainly hope it makes a strong comeback eight years after the last mainline release.
