FSR 3 Comes To Consoles With Immortals of Aveum!

Story Highlight
  • FSR 3 Frame Generation has been available on PCs for over six months.
  • The technology is officially being debuted on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
  • FSR 3 Frame Generation will debut via Immortals of Aveum in a few weeks.

AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation is old news for PC gamers. However, console fans have missed out on this technology. With consoles sharing a PC-like AMD RDNA 2 architecture, it seems the wait is now over.

Immortals of Aveum, last year’s not-so-successful Unreal Engine 5 showcase, will be the first title to debut this technology on the Xbox Series X and PS5. It was also among the first to implement it on PCs.

Why it matters: Nvidia DLSS 3 and FSR 3 are big perks of PC gaming. However, with consoles on track to support the latter, Sony and Microsoft’s gaming experience will be even better soon.

AMD’s FSR 3 Frame Generation Is A Game Changer

As reported by Eurogamer, Immortals of Aveum has two patches pending right now. The first patch simply adds support for high dynamic range, and the second one will bring FSR 3 to the PS5 and Xbox Series X for the first time.

extend FSR 3 support on both PC and consoles.

-Patch Description

Not too long ago, we discussed a potential hint at the technology’s arrival on the Xbox Series X. It is possible that the recent changes were made in preparation for Immortals of Aveum’s next update.

Admittedly, FSR 3 adoption on PCs has been slower than anticipated. However, with consoles in the mix, developers could rapidly expand the upscaling to more games soon.

Despite its failure, Immortals of Aveum should prove to be a great first run for FSR 3 Frame Generation on consoles. It runs at very low resolutions to achieve the target frame rate on these systems.

AMD’s technology should solve many of the image quality issues as Frame Generation enables higher frame rates without sacrificing the image quality.

Overall, FSR 3 Frame Generation could be game-changing for consoles.

With enough widespread support, consoles may no longer have to struggle with 30FPS limitations. However, it is important to note that FSR 3 works best when a game’s base frame rate hovers around 60FPS.
