Fastest Selling Resident Evil Title!

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold 7 million copies, achieving a new milestone.
  • The game has sold over 500K copies in just over a month recently.
  • These new sales figures were backed by the Gold Edition and recent sales.

Remaking Resident Evil 4 was a great decision by Capcom since the game was a commercial hit and was nominated as a GOTY contender. It instantly became a hit due to massive improvements in combat and graphics.

Over 19 years after the original game was released, the remake has become an excellent addition to the IP that appeals to new and returning fans. Not too long ago, Capcom confirmed Resident Evil 4 Remake had sold 6.48 million copies.

The publisher has updated its sales again, and the remake has crossed the 7 million milestone.

Why it matters: Resident Evil 4 Remake’s success will motivate Capcom to continue remaking its classic titles, giving it another chance to address grievances with titles like Resident Evil 6 in a future remake.

Resident Evil 4 Sold 520K Copies In Less Than 2 Months

In a recent press release, Capcom revealed that the game has sold 7 million copies. There are still ten days left before it reaches its first anniversary, but the remake is already Capcom’s fastest-selling Resident Evil title.

The original Resident Evil 4 sold over 12 million copies to date. However, at this rate, the remake is expected to surpass this figure, establishing itself as the definitive version of this entry, even though the original game remains impressive in many ways.

The sales were boosted thanks to the Separate Ways DLC recently. Capcom has revealed that it sold over 500K units in just over a month, mainly due to the release of the Gold Edition on February 9.

The Gold Edition and recent discounts have contributed the most to the additional sales figure. We expect Capcom to pursue further discounts in the future, helping this remake reach even bigger milestones.

Recent rumors have also pointed to the impending reveal of another remake from the publisher. Changes on Steam indicate that Resident Evil 5 Remake is up next, with other leakers stating that around five Resident Evil projects are in the works.
