Resident Evil 5 Remake Reveal Expected Soon

Capcom Following Same Pattern As RE4 Remake!

Story Highlight
  • Unusual activity on the Steam page of Resident Evil 5 has hinted toward a remake announcement.
  • Capcom is repeating the same pattern observed for the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
  • The game could soon be named Resident Evil 5 (2009) on Steam to differentiate it from the remake.

The Resident Evil franchise has become known for its signature remakes in recent years, with last year’s Resident Evil 4 being the best example of Capcom’s modern work on a once-beloved classic.

According to leaks and reports, the publisher is currently focusing on Resident Evil 9 along with future remakes. A reputed insider previously revealed that five projects are currently in development.

One of them is believed to be Resident Evil 5 Remake, and activity on Steam suggests that this project will be unveiled sooner than expected.

Why it matters: Apart from a few exceptions, Capcom does not have many new games announced for 2024 and 2025. Therefore, even a small teaser for the next remake is sure to be a major reveal for the fandom.

PRE-Alarabiya on X/Twitter has noticed changes regarding Resident Evil 5 on SteamDB.

The game recently received three updates before the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake Gold Edition, which includes the removal of the game name, base game, and package release date from Steam.

Capcom has not updated this particular entry in a while, and it appears odd for the publisher to return and make changes after three years. However, observing past trends, the gaming giant did the same thing with Resident Evil 4 before the remake’s reveal.

Connecting the dots, it seems that Capcom is heading toward a Resident Evil 5 Remake reveal.

In the past, Capcom changed Resident Evil 4’s title to Resident Evil 4 (2005) on Steam. This was done so players could differentiate between the remake and the original title just by reading the names.

With Capcom seemingly changing the name in Steam’s latest updates, it appears to be doing the same for Resident Evil 5. While Resident Evil 5 Remake is unlikely to arrive this year, the game could be teased or officially confirmed in 2024.

Capcom’s last remake became a series highlight, selling 6 million units. The entire franchise is headed toward 160 million sales soon, so the publisher is expected to keep this momentum going.

Still, it might be worth keeping expectations in check since there is no telling when the announcement will arrive despite the strong evidence at hand.
