- FromSoftware has finally acknowledged the current excitement around Bloodborne.
- Hidetaka Miyazaki finds various benefits in remaking games for new hardware.
- He appreciates fans enjoying the game since it is very dear to him as well.
The demand for Bloodborne and its remake has existed since the beginning of this console generation. While various rumors in 2024 and 2023 pointed at such a re-release, these reports have yet to manifest into an official announcement.
Director Hidetaka Miyazaki was recently asked to share his thoughts about the game and a potential remake. Commenting on the legacy of the IP, he was pleased to see the appreciation for Bloodborne and stated that FromSoftware values the IP just as much as the fans.
Why it matters: PlayStation has been consistent in updating its catalog for modern hardware, making the exclusion of this classic shocking for many.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Hidetaka Miyazaki discussed the various benefits of remakes.
Amid the current demand, he was quick to acknowledge that new hardware generations can lead to games that weren’t possible in the past. However, he did not say whether this would lead to a remake of Bloodborne.
It makes me very happy to see(buzz for Bloodborne). It makes us feel thrilled.
-Hidetaka Miyazaki
He also addressed the accessibility benefits of potential remakes. Games like Bloodborne can be delivered to a larger audience through more modern platforms, while quality-of-life features make them more intriguing to play.
This is a major argument for a remake, with many asking the studio to implement 60FPS and higher-resolution support for the game. Whether this will happen eventually, however, is anybody’s guess.
Bloodborne has arguably the best atmosphere of any FromSoftware game. Therefore, it is easy to see why the team and fans hold it in such high regard.
Hopefully, this admiration will serve as motivation for the future. Following Elden Ring’s 20 million sales, there is little doubt about the success of such a project. However, the game’s PlayStation exclusivity means that the final decision is not FromSoftware’s to make.
