Even though the last Max Payne game didn’t get enough love in 2012, Remedy Entertainment is set to bring the franchise back with faithful recreations of the studio’s original releases.
First announced in 2022, these projects were set to enter production last year. However, Remedy Entertainment found major success with Alan Wake 2 in the same year, leading to rapid progress on the remakes since then.
Why it matters: Modern AAA development is quite stressful and comes with massive room for error. Therefore, fans will be glad to know that Remedy Entertainment’s remakes are doing well so far.
The developer confirms Alan Wake 2 sold 1.3 million units, and this announcement also revealed more about the future of its upcoming releases.
The studio has increased its pace on Control 2, in addition to Max Payne Remakes. It states that the projects are expected to reach new stages of development in the first half of 2024.
For Max Payne, this means the games will be well into production by the year’s second half. If everything progresses smoothly, Remedy Entertainment might be preparing for a launch in 2025.

The developer also confirmed ambitious plans to expand its Remedy Connected Universe, comprising Control and Alan Wake.
As the remakes progress, Remedy Entertainment promises to bundle both games in a single package. It also remains to be seen if this release will receive physical copies since Alan Wake 2 launched as a digital-only title.
This franchise first debuted 22 years ago, redefining third-person shooters and bullet time mechanics.
Since then, Remedy Entertainment has continued to refine its technology, proving to be one of the most technically advanced teams in the industry last year. Therefore, there is hope for equally impressive recreations of these games from the developer in 2025.
