The saga of PlayStation’s leaks continues. A ransomware attack on Insomniac has led to information about X-Men games, a Venom spin-off, and various game budgets showing up online, but new data continues to show up.
A document outlines sales figures for nearly all PlayStation first-party games, including the beloved Bloodborne. According to the leak, this FromSoftware title sold over 7 million units.
Why it matters: There has been demand for a Bloodborne PC port or remaster for many years. Despite the game being nearly a decade old, enthusiasts have not been able to get over this critically acclaimed FromSoftware release.
Despite these numbers, Sony never officially confirmed figures for Bloodborne beyond 2 million.
In September, the game went beyond expectations and achieved this figure. However, despite being remembered as the PS4’s first groundbreaking exclusive, PlayStation seems to have forgotten the game at some point.
7.6 million sales also mean Bloodborne is somehow among FromSoftware’s biggest games despite being tied to a single platform. Barring the phenomenal Elden Ring, most FromSoftware games sold around 10 million copies.
In September, the studio confirmed 10 million sales for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Similarly, Dark Souls 3 reached 10 million sales in three years. Compared to these numbers, Bloodborne’s results are not too shabby.
Apart from this entry, the document confirms Marvel’s Spider-Man is PlayStation’s biggest first-party launch from the last generation. It sold over 22.5 million units, rivaled only by God of War’s impressive sales of over 21 million copies.
Other games like Gran Turismo Sport also showcased strong results, reaching nearly 13 million units sold. Still, these are likely old numbers, so many of these games may have sold additional copies to date.
With PlayStation continuing to ignore Bloodborne, many believed the game was a niche title for the PS4, leading to this treatment. If nothing else, the leak confirms that this was not the case.
It landed on the lower end of PlayStation’s biggest games, but FromSoftware’s newfound popularity could mean that a remaster or PC port would eclipse the game’s current figures if it happened in 2024 or beyond.
