Baldur’s Gate 3 Dominated PS5 Downloads Last Month

2nd Best-Seller In EU & US!

Following its massive release on Steam, Baldur’s Gate 3 made its way to PS5 in September. Prior to its launch, the game was already PS5’s second-best-selling title, and it appears to have retained this spot throughout the month.

Like previous months, PlayStation has just shared the list of most downloaded PS5 games for September. Among other games, Baldur’s Gate 3 was the 2nd most downloaded game in the US and Europe.

Why it matters: This result puts any doubts to rest. Many believed Larian Studios’ RPG would not find much success on PS5 due to the limited appeal of CRPGs, but this is clearly not the case.

According to the PS Blog, NBA 2K24 and EA Sports FC 24 took the top spots on the list of most downloaded PS5 games last month in these regions. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 maintained a strong position, staying in the second spot.

Recent releases like Mortal Kombat 1 and Madden NFL 24 have not been able to match the success of Larian Studios’ surprise hit, highlighting the studio’s talents and hard work yet again.

The game’s earlier success shocked Larian Studios, with the team claiming Baldur’s Gate 3 performed much better than expected. However, after the excitement for the game on Steam, it was bound to be a massive hit on PlayStation.

We believe the game’s success has just begun. It will soon be available on Xbox consoles, providing the RPG another opportunity to immerse players in the Dungeons & Dragons universe.

The fact that the game has outmatched established IPs like Mortal Kombat is a testament to the talents and abilities of Larian Studios. This success also means that Baldur’s Gate 3 has a strong chance of winning Game of the Year despite the competition in 2023.

Baldur's Gate 3

Over on Steam, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to be one of the year’s most successful titles. While single-player releases traditionally lose their players over time, the RPG continues to attract hundreds of thousands of players on Steam each day.

The release has undoubtedly set new standards for the RPG genre. Therefore, its success is more than justified, with the game catapulting Larian Studios to new levels of success and prosperity.
