Baldur’s Gate 3 Coming To Xbox Series S|X Before November 2023

Planned Between September And November!

Larain Studios’ latest RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3, has made headlines throughout the gaming industry. It has impressed critics in numerous ways, becoming the highest-rated game in a year with plenty of competition.

The game was initially released on PC and quickly gained an impressive number of concurrent players on Steam, reaching a peak of 875k concurrent players, just behind Hogwarts Legacy in 2023.

Following this success, the RPG is headed to PS5 this week. The studio also announced an Xbox Series S|X release recently, and Larian Studios confirms Baldur’s Gate 3 is headed to the Xbox consoles between September and November.

Why it matters: The incredible performance of the game on PC has generated significant interest among console users, leading to high anticipation for its release on consoles.

Baldur's Gate 3

During an interview with IGN, the Director of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, was asked about the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 for Xbox. He stated that Larian would try to release the game for Xbox as fast as possible and said:

“It’s 2023. Between September and November.”

He reiterated that the Xbox version was delayed due to a split screen issue on the Xbox Series S. However, Larian Studios managed to drop the feature for launch after meeting with Phil Spencer.

Swen Vincke also asserted that the Xbox Series S|X versions are already in good shape since development for Xbox consoles was underway prior to the recent announcement.

Therefore, it will not take the studio too long to release the game.

For now, though, the team is focused on the patch for the PC version and the upcoming full PS5 release. The game has already been released for the PlayStation console in early access, and recent tests have shown it can struggle in performance mode.

However, Larian Studios is determined to reach the 60FPS target, which may lead to future patches for the console. Elaborating on this goal, Swen Vincke said:

“We really want to hit 60FPS across the board on everything.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 is right around the corner for Xbox consoles, marking the addition of yet another exceptional RPG to the growing catalog of RPGs on Xbox.

Fans on Xbox Series S|X can also look forward to Starfield’s full release in a few days, with both these games ensuring that fans of RPG titles on Xbox Series S|X will have plenty of content to keep themselves busy for the rest of 2023.
