Very Close to 6GHz Target!

Raptor Lake Refresh, or Intel 14th-generation, will be the next lineup of processors from the company. It will also be the last generation that will be supported on the current series of Intel motherboards.

In terms of features, the upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh lineup is identical to the current Intel 13th-generation lineup. This lineup of processors is expected to launch later this month, bringing increased frequencies and core counts.

Countless leaks regarding the 14th-generation Raptor Lake Refresh lineup have already popped up over the internet, but another leak points to the stock and overclocked results for the Intel Core i5-14600K.

The 14th-generation Intel Core i5 will launch with the 14600K and 14600KF. Apart from the lack of integrated graphics on the KF-variant, both will feature identical layouts of 6 performance and 8 efficient cores like the last generation Core i5-13600K.

Unlike the Core i7-14700K, which also got an increase in core count, the Core i5-14600K is expected to feature a boost frequency at 5.3 GHz. However, the latest Geekbench results show that it can achieve 5.7GHz when overclocked. This is close to the frequency of the Intel Core i7-14700K, which reached 6GHz in similar leaks.

The Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Master X motherboard, coupled with 48 GB of DDR5-7600 memory, was used for this test. This set of configurations was able to achieve impressive results with the successor of the Intel Core i5-13600K.

There is no information on how the higher boost frequency was achieved or what kind of cooling hardware was used, but with the current single-threaded performance score of 2861 points, the Intel Core i5-14600K is now much closer to the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X at 2887 points.

In multi-threaded applications, the Intel Core i5-14600K beats the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X. This should not be a surprise since the Ryzen 7 7700X features 8 cores and 16 threads compared to 14 cores and 20 threads of the Core i5-14600K.

As stated earlier, the Raptor Lake Refresh lineup is expected to be launched this month, with an announcement coming soon. Therefore, the reviewers are likely to have already received their samples from Intel, leading to more leaked information as the launch approaches.
