PlayStation Announces State of Play For September 14 2PM PT

Focused On Indie and Third Party Titles!

PlayStation has become accustomed to hosting State of Play events in September. Last year, the gaming giant hosted premiers for Tekken 8 and Rise of the Ronin, leading to an impressive event.

Earlier this month, rumblings had begun from reliable sources, claiming that PlayStation would host another State of Play. The first rumor was followed by a teaser from another reliable industry insider.

Several days later, PlayStation has officially confirmed the State of Play.

Why it matters: PlayStation’s latest showcase was considered underwhelming and disappointing, leading to hopes for the next event to make up for the poor showcase.

PlayStation has announced the livestream will take place at 2 PM Pacific on September 14.

The State of Play will focus on a wide variety of games. In particular, PlayStation has mentioned games from the PS VR2 catalog, indie games, and several major third-party releases.

While the PlayStation Blog does not mention first-party games, a new look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is highly likely since the game is set to be released in just over a month.

Previews for the game will go live one day after the State of Play, providing PlayStation one major opportunity for an impressive trailer before the marketing campaign is in full swing.

PlayStation State of Play 2023

A leaker also spilled the beans on the next PlayStation PC port ahead of PlayStation’s announcement. The reliable source claims Horizon Forbidden West is headed to PC next month.

Therefore, the game is likely to be featured at the State of Play since previous ports like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales were announced at the same event last year.

PlayStation’s last State of Play was held in April, months before its major showcase for 2023.

However, the previous event was entirely dedicated to Final Fantasy 16. The upcoming livestream will allow the gaming giant to focus on multiple games and may even include a few surprise reveals like Rise of the Ronin from 2022.
