Offers Similar Power To PS4 And Xbox One!

The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017, and the console has dominated the competition for over six years. However, Nintendo is due for a new console in 2024, and the industry is excited about the gaming giant’s upcoming console.

Recently, Microsoft has partnered with the company, signing a deal to bring Call of Duty to the platform for the next decade. Nintendo was also mentioned during a recent court hearing between the FTC and Microsoft, revealing more details about the next console.

According to an internal email, Activision’s CEO claims the next Nintendo console will be close to the PS4 and Xbox One in terms of hardware capabilities.

Why it matters: While the Nintendo Switch is extremely successful, it has received criticism for being underpowered compared to the competition. However, the upcoming hardware should offer a massive upgrade.

The tweet above shows a record of the recent discussion between Bobby Kotick and the FTC.

The text refers to an email between Activision and Nintendo, with the Activision CEO comparing Call of Duty on PS4 and Xbox One to the next Nintendo console. He believes the Nintendo Switch successor will align with last-gen offerings from PlayStation and Microsoft.

This also means Call of Duty would be easier to implement on the console.

Bobby Kotick’s estimate lines up with a previous leak. According to the leak, the Nintendo Switch successor will utilize Nvidia DLSS for improved performance in demanding titles.

A recent statement from the Nintendo President also hints at backward compatibility for the upcoming hardware. Nintendo will use its account system to allow for a smooth transition between the two generations.
