Fallout 76 Now Targets 60FPS At Higher Resolution On Current-Gen Consoles

Higher Frame Rate With Improved Visuals!

Fallout 76 was an ambitious title for the franchise. Bringing the Fallout universe to multiplayer gameplay, Bethesda Game Studios hoped to offer the same RPG experience players had come to love.

While the game was off to a rocky start, it has been doing well in recent years. By November 2021, Fallout 76 had more than 11 million players, and it is still being supported with updates.

A new patch over 20GB has dropped recently, and it is available on PlayStation, Xbox Series Consoles, and PC. Following the update, fans have noticed Fallout 76 is now running at 60 FPS on PS5.

Why it matters: Fallout 76 is a last-gen game that was not released with a 60 FPS mode. With the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X, many games have released updates for higher frame rates, and the latest patch for Fallout 76 appears to be doing the same.

Since the release of Fallout 76, Bethesda Game Studios has continuously supported it by releasing new content and improving it in future patches. As such, Fallout 76 is currently in its best condition.

Interestingly, the patch does not mention changes to the frame rate. While the game is now playable at 60FPS on PS5, the Xbox Series X already had this option with the console’s FPS boost feature.

Apart from the frame rate, the patch has introduced graphical updates.

As noted by Twitter user Elegantplays, the game no longer runs at a lower resolution and quality settings. Bethesda has also improved the lighting, giving it a better look than the previous versions on consoles.

While 60FPS is a great addition, it is worth noting that the 60FPS is not locked, meaning the game will not run at60 FPS consistently. Still, this change will make the game much smoother and more responsive than before.
